Shaun Carter

Co-founder & Director

With a career starting in insurance, Shaun found an affinity creating systems and processes. This led to a role as IT Director at a mid-sized wealth management company with a mandate to modernise the numerous time-consuming regular tasks and unite the various silos of data into a single source of truth.

With a relaxed, gregarious and inquisitive approach Shaun will communicate with all stakeholders to understand and identify their needs and successfully deliver a solution. This approach has worked well with his various clients, developing KPI dashboards, automations and connecting disparate data sets into forecasting and budget reports.

Shaun spends his free time taxiing his children to various clubs and occasionally “running the line” for his son’s team. 

Charlie Lyon

Co-founder & Director

Charlie brings over 16 years of experience in private client wealth management and private banking, working across both back-office operations and front-office advisory roles. A qualified Chartered Wealth Manager, he later led the development of a Model Portfolio Service, spent time in Change Management and FP&A Management information, all the while combining deep client insight with a passion for process improvement.

At Lyter, Charlie specialises in building bespoke tools, automations, and reports that help businesses work smarter. He’s driven by a simple question: “Is there a better way to do this?” – and more often than not, the answer is yes.

Outside of work, Charlie enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters.

Lyter

Lyter was born from a long-standing professional relationship – and a shared vision for doing things better.

We’re a two-person team with very different backgrounds, but a deep understanding of how businesses work. We first met over a decade ago at NW Brown in Cambridge, working in different departments. Over time, our paths converged – and for the last few years, we worked side by side, solving complex problems and building systems that made a real difference.

When the business was acquired by a larger firm, we were jointly responsible for one of the most critical transitions: migrating over 600 clients, 2,000 portfolios, and all associated data – including historic performance, holdings, and physical assets totaling around £1 billion. We also assisted on the migration of many of the firm’s core processes

After the acquisition, Shaun launched his own consultancy. Charlie stayed on for another five years – until, at a beer festival (as all good stories go), Shaun suggested we team up. A few conversations later and Lyter was born.

We bring complementary skills, shared values, and a proven track record of working well together. We know what it’s like to be on the front line of a business – and we know how to make things work better behind the scenes.
